The Chris Rector Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2010 in memory of Christian M. Rector. Chris passed away unexpectedly at the age of 16 on May 19, 2009. He had made the decision to be an organ and tissue donor, and his last act of kindness saved the lives of 3 people, restored sight to two people, and improved the quality of life for over 40 other individuals.
The first two scholarships were awarded in 2010 with funds received from Chris’ memorial service. In February 2010, Hungry 4 Some Supper Myself Charitable Trust was formed with the purpose of organizing a 5K/10K Fun Walk/Run to raise funding to continue the Chris Rector Memorial Scholarships as well as to raise money for the Baraboo Food Pantry and most importantly to raise awareness about organ donation. The first event held on November 13, 2010, was able to raise $4,000 for the Baraboo Food Pantry and $5000 for the scholarship fund. An additional $500 scholarship was contributed by Ken Smith, Chris’ dad, from the Chris Rector Memorial Bowling Tournament held in December 2010. Hungry 4 Some Supper Myself will be putting on another 5K/10K Fun Walk/Run on November 12, 2011 at
